Mnemonics

WALT: Inform

Description:
I have put 2 of my spelling words into my poster of my mnemonics. If you don't know what mnemonics are well here is the answer on the poster. If you can't read it what it says. Then here:
What are Mnemonics?
Well a Mnemonic is when you have a word and you made it into a sentences. But each letter starts with the letters in order. Here are some Examples from my spelling list.

Super Moon

WALT: Inform

Last night the Moon got closer to us than it has ever been. Not all of New Zealand saw it because it was too cloudy in some towns. They even talked about it on the National News because it hasn't happened for many years. So they talked about the moon on the news.

If I saw the moon I would of felt so jumpy and pointing at the moon to Mum and Dad with my mouth open in a surprise. I would have been talking about it to all of my friends. So I wished I had seen it.

We learned that the Moon goes around us, while Earth goes around the sun. It also takes a year to go round the sun but the sun stays in one place, it doesn't move around like the moon and we do. So it takes 365 and 1/4 days going around the sun.

We also learned that there used to be 9 planets now there are 8 because scientists discovered Pluto is just a rock so now there are only 8. So when the moon got closer to us than it has ever been they called it... THE SUPER MOON.

Te Reo Maori

WALT: communicate a message.

Description: We have been participating in 3 different workshops around colour, compositions and fonts.  We put these skills to use in a poster sharing our knowledge about Te Reo Maori.
Why? We have noticed that our posters are too cluttered and do not communicate a  message well.
Task: Make a poster about Te Reo Maori.

Criteria:
Message: My message is clear and purposeful.  Everything that is on my poster relates to my message.

Composition:  My poster is balanced.

Font:  My font is clear, readable and suits the message.

Colour:  I have used 2-3 colours that are complementary.  My background choice makes the text pop!

Accuracy:  All of the words on my poster are spelt correctly.

Evaluation:
  1. What are you most proud of and why?
Well I am most proud of my group and I because we all  worked together, and had a lot of fun making the poster.

  1. What challenged you the most and why?
The thing that challenged me was that when we were going over fived on the words because I was thinking to myself head that I was going to mess it up for my group and I.

  1. Next time, what is a goal you can work towards?
Next time I will work towards on to making it only 3 colors so it doesn't look so crowdy on the poster.

Feedback/Feedforward:
Good job Sophie I think you should work on getting your poster a bit clearer and you words a bit clearer as well but apart from that I think you did well with your detail you put in it looks really cool.  Jade C

My Hiwi The Kiwi Story

It was another exiting week of school. We were all ready to go. We hoped into the car "Grr Grr!" Went the engine. We raced down the drive way fast like a jet plane. We went up and down the bumbs. "BANG!" when the tyres hit the ground. We had arrived at... school. I saw so many kids crowding something. I wondered what it was. I hangded up my bag. When I came back there were more people. when I came back there were more people. The bell went. Ding Dong! Everyone went to class. We were going to the busy hall. A man was standing on the stage singing songs while people were creeping like mice. He finshed his songs when all the class were in the busy hall.

He intuced himself. " Hello kids I'm Mr Minstrill and this is my wife Mrs Minstrill and she is a good cook too. so give her a clap." The school claps. He said"if you catch a little fish put it back so it can grow, and when you catch a big fish put it back because it might have babies. Then he said " That"s when your on a boat you should be wearing a... Then every body said life jacket! He answered Yes you need to wear a life jacket and in a boat you should have beacon, flares and a fish ruler. also you should use salt water to put the fish in, and fresh." " always carry a fish in a damp towel. Why? Do fish have scales. Don"t fall of.
